FAQs

The answers to your questions

Where and when will the press screenings be taking place this year?

We will host a small number of Press screenings for press badge holders only - information on date and location will be sent to accredited press.

While we understand the Digital Viewing Library was a useful tool for media to access screeners, following a review of engagement with the library we are enabling accredited press to cover films via screener links and press tickets for public screenings instead. Where available, our press team will be able to provide links in much the same way the Digital Viewing Library did, enabling your much-valued access to and coverage of BFI Flare to continue as usual.

Accredited press can request screener links for the purpose of interview and review, these will be provided where available, however, it is the decision of the rights holders if they are willing to provide a link.

  • Access to a selection of press screenings, requested in advance, subject to availability
  • Access to press screeners where available for the purpose of review and interviews
  • Public weekday matinee screenings (subject to availability and at the discretion of box office staff, with priority given to general sale)
  • Ticket requests for the majority of screenings in the public programme
  • Exclusive offers and discounts, including BFI Bar, BFI Cafe and BFI Player subscription

If you cannot get into a press screening, you may be able to see the film at a public screening, either via the daily press ticket request form, or via the delegate rush queue for weekday matinees (subject to availability). If neither of these options is successful and you have a commission for which you need to see a particular film, please get in touch with the press office directly and they will try to assist you further.

Public screenings can be accessed by press via either the daily press ticket request form, or via the delegate rush queue for weekday matinees (subject to availability).

Registered press can join a rush queue at the guest ticket collection desk for the chance to pick up any unsold tickets, subject to availability. Please show your press pass. Tickets will be made available 5 minutes before the start of each screening. Please do not queue more than 30 minutes beforehand.

Priority will be given to anyone looking to purchase a ticket before any remaining tickets are released to press.

Your confirmation email may take up to 48 hours to arrive in your inbox. If you have registered for accreditation at the weekend, you should receive the confirmation email on the next available working day.

Your badge will be sent to you via email from Tuesday 12 March and will remain here on your online personal delegate page.

In line with the BFI’s Sustainability Pledge, your badge can be downloaded onto your phone in a PDF. Feel free to take a screenshot of your festival pass so you can access it easily.

We encourage all delegates to use a PDF badge this year, however you are welcome to print your badge from home.

Please make sure you have a copy of your badge, either paper or digital available whilst accessing festival press screenings and rush queues.

If you have specified that you have any access requirements on your form we will be in touch with before press screenings take place. Alternatively, if you wish to contact us please email Flare.Pressaccreditation@bfi.org.uk.

If you have access requirements and have purchased tickets from the public programme, please get in contact with our dedicated Box Office number on 020 7960 2102 (lines open 11:30am to 8:30pm daily) or email box.office@bfi.org.uk. We welcome calls using text relay services.

Please note that all screenings are subject to change of screen and we will inform you if this has an impact on your access requirements.
A limited number of films will have Open and Closed Caption and Audio Description tracks created and ready by the festival. Please reach out to us if you require either of these services – due to the limited number available we would look to guarantee you entry to a screening where appropriate materials are available.
